Our Journey

One night, in late 2018, our family found a stray cat near our residence searching for food. Without thinking twice, we put out a plate of dry cat food and a cup of fresh water for him. Watching from a distance, we saw him come out of the darkness and begin to eat. The following night, he came back and we left him food and water again. At the time, we did not know much about community cats or that Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) existed! We did know that this cat was hungry and we were fortunate enough to provide him with a meal. We named him Amarillo and became his caregiver. He was our introduction to the world of community cats. We will always honor Amarillo and his story. We are grateful we came across him.

Over the next two years, more kittens and cats found their way to us. We began to do research, educating ourselves on the importance of sterilizing community cats through TNR.

Today, our family takes care of four cat colonies in the Wilmington area. We make a promise to each stray cat that finds their way to us: to provide adequate food, water, and medical care, along with the love and respect that they deserve.

Here is how we are currently helping our community:

  • Help facilitate Trap-Neuter-Return efforts in Wilmington, CA.

  • Rescue and find safe placement for under socialized or medically vulnerable kittens and friendly tamed adult cats.

  • Foster and treat injured feral cats while they recover.

  • Donate cat food to low-income and the neediest colony caregivers.

  • Share information for local low-cost spay/neuter for community cats.
